Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: Old

This was taken back in 2002, which doesn’t seem like it is old, but with kids, it seems like a lifetime ago. Scamp still worships the ground his big brother walks on. I’m so lucky.
Have a great weekend!

Family Fun Friday 4/28/06
So today is chock full of fun and excitement. Here’s the rundown:
- Spiff is off to our zoned Middle School for a little tour of the “facilities”. I told him to really stay in the moment so he can tell me what he thinks of it and if he would like to go there next year.
- Back to back to back doctors appointments, one of which I have to cancel (even though I scheduled it over two months ago) because of #1. Sigh.
- Hoping to have lunch today with a friend of mine who has become a SAHM. Since becoming one, she has averaged less time in her home than when she was in the workforce. I’ve also seen her less as well, but we’ll catch up over lunch at Panera or something. Looking forward to it.
- Dinner and gaming tonight here at Casa de Crazedmommy. We’re laying out a spread of grilled eats, including hot dogs, french fries, and dessert. The weather is supposed to be cooling a little bit, so it will be a great night to grill.
- This weekend is also chock full of playdates, tree shopping (Happy Arbor Day!), and home stuff. We hope to also take the boys out for some mini golfing, since we had so much fun the last time. It’s all Scamp has talked about since.
Anyhoo, have a great weekend. My friend Chris over at Rude Cactus has the rundown on the Denise Richards/Charlie Sheen divorce filing. It’s very interesting.
Also, while you’re there, send him some good thoughts. A beloved family member has just passed on in his family, and it’s a sad time. Give him some love.
Thanks.

Things I Love Thursday: 13 Pieces of Good News
Since most of this week has been tied up with stuff of the busy (lazy) variety, I thought I’d share some good news that has blessed our house lately.
- Spiff’s school thing might be working out. The County called me and told me to re-submit the zone waiver to the school I want to send Spiff to. It should (will) be approved.
- Some very good friends of ours had a beautiful baby girl several weeks too early. She is really doing great, and there is an excellent chance she will be coming home very soon.
- It’s not exactly recent (but it is good news you don’t know), but my brother, Uncle S, has taken a job as a security guard at a local theme park.
- His mom, after a big health scare, is starting back to work after months of treatment. We’re very thrilled.
- Scamp is now old enough for his first dentist appointment. Now someone else can tell him (nay, beg him like we do) how important it is to brush his teeth.
- My mother-in-law will be traveling overseas this summer to do some work in the world of dance. We’re very excited for her.
- My other brother, Uncle A, after many years and many long hours working shifts that were at all times of the day and night is now on day shifts only. Yahoo!!!
- Kate Holmes finally had that baby.
- Scamp is speaking more coherently as each week passes. He is using the word “something” less and less for words he can’t articulate.
- Around the middle of May, I can see Spiff’s FCAT test scores.
- It might actually be possible that all I have to do is buy the parts to fix the handle on our microwave that has popped off. This is excellent news because I don’t want to buy a new microwave over this. (see: cheap)
- Parts of my lawn are actually growing even after the fertilizer debacle. Not all, but enough to make me happy to be a homeowner again.
- Rescue Me’s new season begins May 30th. It’s about TIME!!!

Tuesday Thoughts
On My Mind:
- Geez, I wish my headache and vertigo would go away.
- I wish Scamp would drop this new annoying habit of whining every request he has.
- Should I regale my new internet friends with the funny moment of the day that included Scamp, farting, and a Little Einsteins reference? Would they appreciate it?
- Should I add a new jewelry heirloom to my family by purchasing this?
- Is school really out in one month’s time? Hold me.
- Will I ever get to go out again on a real date with my hubby before the last child leaves home for college?
- Was Kate Holmes really okay with the father of her (just born!!) child jetting off to Rome to promote his new movie as he said at the press conference? I’da been none too pleased, which is why he and I would have never worked out. Shame.
- Will I pass the Para-professional test I plan to take in June? Will I then get to work as a teaching assistant?
- Will I embarrass my son if I get assigned to his school?
I have to go now. Scamp just put in a Dora DVD here in the office, and this Kleenex alone won’t stop the blood pouring out of my eyes and ears.
Talk more tomorrow! Promise!

Monday at It’s Best
Today I ran my behind off (actually, I drove all over Orlando to help out my brother.); fielded phone calls from the County School System about the cock-up that this year has been, and was made promises for next year. I was also told that the school I want Spiff to go to will be a done deal, based on the kind of year I have had.
I’m quietly optimistic.
We’ll see what happens. I had such hopes for this past year, and was disappointed when things didn’t pan out like I was promised. I have been blessed with a phenomenal teacher and without her this year would have been horrific. So I’m thankful for her, but not happy with the way things were handled. I hope next year will be better.
This news is a big step in that direction. It’s the best news I’ve heard all year.

All in all a rather productive week. I think I’ll go celebrate with a little weed pulling and yard work as a family. Nothing says “I love you” like a little slave labor.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Wish Me Luck
I’m making these cookies today.
It took me awhile, but my neighbor ran across some SKOR bars in, of all places, Kinko’s while she was waiting to pick up her business cards. Since I had almost given up hope of finding them locally, and was beginning to put feelers out to other locales, this was exciting news. I now have 3 SKOR bars to chop up and make into delicious cookie goodness. Let’s hope I can pull this off.
I’m also making egg salad.
I’ve never made this before. I know if it’s made correctly, it can be a beautiful thing. I’m just not sure the recipe I have is going to cut it. So, if anyone out there has a tried and true recipe for delicious egg salad, I would love to have a look.
See, I have a little over one dozen eggs I have to magically change into something else besides hard boiled. I’m not confident I can pull this one off.
So, wish me luck. Here’s hoping I don’t burn the house down.

We’re the Neighborhood Welcome Wagon
Conversation at casa de crazedmommy only minutes ago:
Scamp: Mom, I want to go outside.
Me: Ok.
Scamp: I want to play with SoccerDude and DrummerBoy.
Me: Are they outside now? Remember, SoccerDude has practice today.
Scamp: Ok. I want to go play with DrummerBoy so I can shoot him.
(he’s brandishing a nerf gun)
And who says we’re not friendly folk?

Things I Love Thursday: 13 Thankful Things
I’m combining two Thursday traditions I have seen and wanted to participate in, so in that spirit, here are thirteen things that I am thankful for.
(besides my kids, I think that one might be obvious.)
- A good night’s sleep. (Something you don’t always get when you have children, or you are stressed out. Sometimes both happen simultaneously.)
- Fabulous, friendly neighbors. We had dinner last night with our neighbors across the street. It was a last minute thing, we combined our meals that we would have had separately and all sat down together. We used to do this a lot when we first moved in, but haven’t had the opportunity in a long while. I’m glad we did, and so is Spiff, who declared yesterday “The best day ever!”.
- Undereye concealer. I’m someone who has big, dark circles under her eyes. I’m sure #1 might play a part in that. Allergies also have something to do with it. I look much better with undereye concealer on. So whomever developed that, I tip my hat (or my 40, if I had one) to you.
- Bathroom Cleaning Wipes. With two boys who haven’t mastered the fine art of aim, and a third male who hasn’t helped much in that department, these handy cleaning tools are a godsend. They also help teach my boys early to clean up after themselves, which is awesome. I have to remind them to clean up though, so if the makers of these cleaning tools want to work on that, that would be great.
- TiVo. Duh.
- My son’s Teachers. I have really been blessed this year with go-getter teachers that are willing to go the extra mile to assist my boys and make this year one of the best, most productive ever. I worry that they work so hard, for all of their students, that they risk burnout; but I am so lucky to have them guiding my boy’s academic careers. They are awesome.
- Computer spellcheckers. Without this, my slight dyslexia (I think faster than I type and words can get jumbled in the process) would render this blog almost unintelligible. Some might argue it may already be.
- Friends that have become part of my family. Who knew that two guys I met in high school would become a very important part of my family, and uncles to my kids. If I had to take anything away from the experience that is high school and keep it forever with me, I can think of nothing or no one better than these two. Thanks Uncle S and Uncle A, you rock!
- My in-laws. I aspire to the greatness that these two people embody. My father-in-law has inspired me to trust my view through a camera lens, and my mother-in-law has been a healing salve over the loss of my own mother. I’m blessed and honored they call me daughter (in law).
- Entertainment Magazines. People, US Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, In Style, just to name a few. When I’m in need of fluffy reading, there you are. Thank you.
- Aunt Pam. I’ve inherited a wonderful lady who challenges me, make me think, and inspires me to do more and be a better person.
- Stretchy lycra in blue jeans. I think that is self explanatory. 2 kids + over 30 – a personal trainer – a desire to regularly exercise= love of stretchy lycra. See? Simple math!
- My husband. Not only because he gave me my boys, but because he gives me stability, a sense of belonging in this crazy world, and because we have the same decorating sense. The similar decorating sense alone is awesome. Being amazing in bed is the clincher though. (hee)
What are you thankful for? Post a comment and let me know!
