Things I Love Thursday: 13 Photo Moments

June 22, 2006

As you can see from the photos I post, I’m usually behind the camera, capturing our moments for posterity (or for primo embarassment years down the road, whichever works). Here are 13 photos that are among my favorites (way too many to post here!) that I currently have access to, thanks to a few explosions of the hard drive, and my stupidity when it comes to backing things up.

You’d think someday soon I’d learn, but no; I really AM that stupid.

It’s a gift.

Anyway, on with the show!

  1. This photo is one of my screen savers.

  2. Same day, I love non-posed moments like this, where he isn’t trying so hard to smile.

  3. This is such a great photo. This was Scamp’s first real train ride, and Spiff was looking around, but also very protective of his brother. This really captured that moment beautifully.

  4. Taken in Islamorada, Summer ‘05. This is a great photo, if only for that it captures the “It’s MINE!” grabbyness that Scamp demonstrates even to this day.

  5. First day of school, ‘05. Scamp was so excited to be going to school with his older brother. He was ready to go at 6am.

  6. Climbing trees is Scamp’s favorite activity. The second one is using my sofa as a trampoline.

  7. Lighting the Hanukkah lights. My (and the boys’!) favorite tradition.

  8. Sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean. Taken while on vacation, Spring Break ‘06.

  9. I moved the cat condo out of the office to clean it out, and they staked their claims. Who needs a jungle gym for kids to play on when you’ve got one of these?

  10. One of my favorite family photos; this was our Holiday card for December ‘05.

  11. This photo is another one of my screensavers. Taken on the T in Boston on the way into the city to walk the Freedom Trail.

  12. This photo was taken in October, ‘04, at Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, MA. I love taking photos of the boys with their father, and this one I cropped and it hangs in my hallway. My hubby’s childhood was spent at this lake and another which is my last photo:

  13. This is the cranberry pond near my husband’s childhood home. Taken in Fall, ‘04, this photo has a place of honor over the big screen TV in the family room. I love this photo.

WOW! What AWESOME pictures. I have to first say that I LOVE your title! Good lordy! On school days I can’t get them up, and during the summer, HELLO! If it’s the CRACK of DAWN, we need to be UP! Ugh!

About your pics: I LOVE your boys’ sweet cheeks! I bet they get pinched a lot! LOL. And I LOVE Boston and the Freedom trail. It is BY FAR the neatest place in the world as far as American History!

Nice to meetcha…we have a lot in common. My ex-husband (kids’ dad) is Jewish, but he is non-practicing (and probably the most IGNORANT JEWISH MAN as far information about his religion I have ever met, but I digress)…I tried to at least give them some culture for the future. So far it’s only me, the gentile, so I think they’ll have to wait until they’re older!

    Anyway, again…sorry to ramble!

LOL! How can the cat tolerate sharing its cat tree with a kid?!?

I love the photo of the cranberry pond. It reminds me of the Fox River in Wisconsin, with the trees and everything.

  33. Shash Says:

Thanks everyone for liking my photos! It really means a lot to me.

Bex- please, feel free to ramble! I love people who ramble, since I do it myself! Stop back by, would’ja?

patentprincess – it’s amazing what happens when a child climbs up on one of those things; a cat will stake a claim where they might not have previously.

kailani – I’ve noticed boys climb things more than girls do. I have those two, and between the two of ‘em, they’ve climbed many things. I get nervous when they are in trees, that cat condo I can handle. It’s surprisingly sturdy, unlike some of the trees they have tried to climb…

carmen – yes, that was the funniest part of it all, the “race to the top”. Guess we all know who won!

lynn – it isn’t my first choice, but for photo posterity it sure worked nicely!

susan – this was also our first trip to the Keys, and I have lived in FL off and on (mostly on) since 1974; some of that time in south Florida. This is at a little roadside dock just over the bridge. The locals sent us there and the fish are HUGE. What Spiff is holding is just what we FED them.

the_yecart – no, I did however put that photo plus several others we took on that trip to Boston into a keepsake book I made at Snapfish.com for Spiff. I probably should do that though, it is one of my favorites.

Thanks again for liking my photos and my photography skills. I have to give credit where it is due; my father-in-law is my inspiration, and his photos are amazing. Maybe one day he’ll show them to the world.

Ya’all rock! I’ll stop by each one of your TT’s in the next few days, it’s a big weekend for us at cada de crazedmommy.
