Making Plans for 2008
December 31, 2007
As is customary on New Year’s Eve, I’m wide awake with my laptop warming my lap thinking about what I plan to do in the coming year.
I could start with the ones I want to do and probably need to do, like begin an exercise plan and actually stick to it. However, I should tell you that as I formulate this from my ever-so-comfortable sofa, in the wee hours of the morn, I am also eating gummi bears from a 3 lb. bag that Santa left. So I really don’t see that one working out too well.
I really hate that I feel the need to start out the New Year thinking about losing weight. Well, not so much losing weight as just working out to put things back to where they used to be. Or even just close to where they used to be, because unless Dr. Rey is gonna hook me up with free lipo and a boob job; it’s gonna be awhile before things find themselves back to where they used to be. Even funnier is that I’m the only one who cares. The Hubby likes me in any way, shape, or form.
I also wish I hasn’t turned on Access Hollywood, because all they are talking about it celebrity weight loss. Ugh.
So! This year, I’d like to do something different. Something that I’m fairly certain I have the ability to accomplish. Baby steps, people. Let’s start with a few attainable goals and go from there. Who’s with me?
- Write out a weekly to-do list, right here on this blog. I read blogs every day, and I use my blogroll to check out my reads, so it’s definitely a place I will see it. I will also mark off the items I accomplish. Also, by posting it up here, ya’all will be holding me accountable in a way. Also, I won’t lose it somewhere in my house which I usually do.
- I would like to try a new recipe for something that strikes my fancy each week. It might be family-friendly, or a dish just for me and The Hubby. Either way, I think I would like to cook more. I enjoy it, and everyone can benefit if I post the best received recipes.
- Start power walking in my neighborhood again. You know, the combat the gummi bear addiction.
- Learn to say no. I tend to spread myself kind of thin a lot, and I need to learn to stop doing that. I thrive on stress, and it’s probably not helping my health.
- Go greener. Bring (and remember to bring!) my own bags to grocery shop or even just to Target. I wash my clothes in cold water already, and I do other things to help the environment, but I want to try to do more. Working 5 minutes from home definitely helps.
Daisy mentioned in the comments a great blog to check out: Green Boot Camp. I have signed myself up and look forward to being even greener in 2008!
I think this is a great start. I’d love to hear what other people are resolving to do. Leave your blog address in the comments and stop by BlogHer’s 2008 New Year’s Resolution Blogs.
Starting January 1st, look for my list and hold me to it!
Thanks, and Happy New Year!

If you’d like, there’s a badge now that you can display on your sidebar for the New Year’s Resolution Blogroll, it’s on my site
It makes my geek heart so happy to see Journeyman and The Big Bang Theory on your list of TiVo addictions. I thought I was the only person watching Journeyman!
