I’m Coming Out

I’ve been doing this blogging thing for the past 3 years. I’ve been to BlogHer, I’ve met many people whom I adore and hope to meet many more in the future. I’ve blogged under a pseudonym, one that I have learned other people share, and one that means something not so great. (Go ahead and google it. It’s kinda gross.) I’ve been on internet radio shows where I have heard people mispronounce my name. I’ve corrected people who mispronounce my pseudonym almost as much as people have mispronounced my actual name.
So today I’m here to clear the air.
The correct pronunciation of my pseudonym is Sh-aw-sh. with an aw. Rhymes with gosh.
However, you may also feel free to call me Shari. It rhymes with Atari.
(Something I spent many hours playing when I was younger)
I’ll answer to either name. I’ve also been known to answer to mom, mommy, hey you, and you there. For the record, I’m not a big fan of the ones except mom or mommy. Those I love. There are scads of books about baby names, so some thought goes into what parents name their kids. More’s the better if you learn to say it correctly. I promise to do the same. Pinky swear.

I blog under a pseudonym, too. And my kids aren’t really named La Petite or Amigo, either. Surprise!

Nice to meet you! I thought it would be a big deal to “come out” and say my real name … but it wasn’t. It’s kind of a relief.

My name is Bryna – rhymes with nothing… but pronounced Brinn-uh. Not Bryan or Brenna or Brenda… although I’ll answer to all of them.
